Welcome to Ninety One Suns - Jack Chismar's Short Stories about his US Marine Corps Service

1955 US Marine Corps Parris Island

Last updated October 14 2016

My father, Jack Chismar from Swoyersville PA, joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1955 at the age of sixteen. Also known as Short Round, my dad is the happy fellow in the middle swearing in to the Marines. He was one of the last recruits to train at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island before the Ribbon Creek Incident took the lives of six recruits resulting with several changes in Marine Corps recruit training.

He's full of stories about his experiences in the Marines and he decided it was time to share with the world. We've been working together documenting the tales and assembling them into a collection of short stories. This is a continued work in progress, so please keep this in mind while exploring the tales. The stories can be found by clicking the various categories in the menu above or the Table of Contents on the right.

Many thanks.
