a tale of the 1950's United States Marine Corps
One Marine's Stories
Last updated September 12 2016
My father, Jack Chismar from Swoyersville PA, joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1955 at the age of sixteen. He was in one of the last recruits to train at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island before the Ribbon Creek Incident forever changed the treatment of recruits. Also known as Short Round, my dad is the happy fellow in the middle swearing in to the Reserves.
He's full of stories about his experiences in the Marines and he decided it was time to share with the world. We've been working together documenting the tales and assembling them into a collection of short stories. This is a continued work in progress, so please keep this in mind while exploring the tales.
